Don’t know If Life Coaching Really Work or Not
You’ve heard the many benefits of life coaching, such as gaining fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision making skills and increased confidence. Just how true are these claims?
I often evaluate the relationship of a Life or Business coach to the relationship commonly found between a Sports coach and an athlete. No matter the sport, if an athlete expects to be competitive in their field, they must be willing to learn techniques to help them soar to the top of their game. In order to achieve this, the athletics’ first step is to enlist the help of someone who is experienced in the area of their inexperience. This person will offer insight, techniques and resources, as well as motivation and support. As a certified Business & Life Coach, this is the type of relationship I develop with my clients, however, with a wider focus.
Another area where coaching provides wonderful success are Weight loss. Various companies today offer structured weight loss plans, weekly check-ins, educational tools, motivation and support to clients in their quest to lose weight. One study revealed the reason for the success of these companies was hugely based upon the support and accountability placed upon the clients for weekly check- INS.
Now back to the original question, “Does life coaching work?” Absolutely! Like the athlete, you’re the star of your own life. You’re the driving force behind your success as you set goals, create action steps and make adjustments as needed. Your coach will be there motivating, challenging and teaching you the indispensable tools to achieve the personal success you deserve. Life is a journey! During the process confront yourself and refuse to accept the old excuses that previously hindered you from achieving your goals. Remind yourself of the reasons you started this process. Coaching works, so be honest with your coach about your thoughts. Your life coach can coach you through these moments.
So finally my complete answer is yes coaching is a powerful and effective way to achieve the goals you desire in life. However, coaching is not for everyone. If you are not committed and ready to accept accountability, take control of your life, have a willingness to try something new and move out of your comfort zone then I must say… this will not be a wise investment. Lastly, success begins with a mindset, so it is important to monitor your thoughts and the words you speak. Both are crucial in helping you reach your goals or sabotaging your efforts.
